This is the Alpine chamois introduced in New Zealand. It lives in the New Zealand Alps, in the South Island.
The fur of adults, especially large males, is almost black.
"Hemitragus jemlahicus"
It has small horns. Triangular in section, they form a keel on the anterosuperior edge where growth medrons can be seen. The characteristic of the adult males, with great dimorphism with the females, is the voluminous "mane" of long yellowish-brown hairs. They live in Nepal, in the Himalayan range, on its Chinese side, and probably in Bhutan. It was introduced here from Asia.
